President Obama’s Tertiary Progressed New Moon – Now

So, President Obama was re-elected. Many though that Mitt Romney would win, based partly on his progressed Moon conjunct his progressed Midheaven. That obviously wasn’t enough. In my opinion, Obama’s tertiary progressed New Moon this week was his trump card (my apologies for evoking any thoughts of The Donald).

So here’s a look at some of President Obama’s significant P3 aspects. I’m using Solar Fire for these calculations. When compared with IO for Mac there was a 1 day discrepancy. I’ve searched, but I haven’t found any mention or interpretation of Obama’s Tertiary progressions on the ‘net.

First a couple from the past:

The big one -November 5, 2008 – P3 Venus / Jupiter conjunction @ 5º44″ Aries - That morning he woke up as President of the United States. The Sabian symbol for 6º Aries (rounding up) is: “A Black square; one of it’s sides is illumined red”². Really.
It is only one of three times in his life this aspect occurs -Venus conjunct Jupiter is a whole lotta love. The previous time was 5/27/1975 (age 14) and the next one will be 8/23/2031 (age 70), both different degrees.

September 17, 2011 – P3 Mars / Uranus conjunction @ 1º29″ Virgo – Again, only one of three times in his life this aspect occurs - (this time conjunct his natal Uranus / Pluto Midpoint). Fortunately, he survived this aspect. I had thought he was in danger during that period. The Sabian symbol for 2º Virgo is “A large white cross stands alone on top of a high hill”³ .The only other time in his life this aspect will occur (different degrees) will be at ages 91 and 100, should he live that long.

And now:

November 8, 2012 – P3 New Moon @ 29º23″ Gemini. The election was 11/6/12. This P3 lunation is within 2 1/2 degrees of his natal Venus (@ 1º47″Cancer). A new beginning, and in the President’s case, it meant re-election. The Sabian symbol for 30º Gemini is: “A parade of bathing beauties before large beach crowds”4. Marc Jones (from Rudhyar’s book) goes on to describe this symbol as “Use of individual vanity in raising racial standards”.
November 21, 2012 – P3 Mars / Pluto conjunction @ 9º47″ Virgo. Powerful drive and energy – right after the P3 New Moon and election. Still possibly dangerous. The Sabian symbol for 10º Virgo is “A man with two heads is seen looking out to the beyond”5. This P3 aspect won’t occur again until 2053 and 2060 (different degrees).

Why are Aries so ________

This post is inspired by a story I heard on NPR this morning. A woman was talking about a map project, of sorts, where the question was Googled of each state: “Why is Wisconsin (for ex.) so … ?” The questions that came up in Google’s auto-fill were, for example, “Why is Wisconsin so… stupid, dry, awesome, liberal, divided, humid.” She did this for each state and created a map of the US.

I don’t know if anyone has already done this, but I thought it would be interesting, or at least amusing, to do the same with each sign of the zodiac. Here we go, let’s Google:

So what do we glean from this? Not much, except that Leos are apparently not so mean, Scorpio has the distinction of being both evil and cool, Libra is charming and fake, Virgo and Aquarius are weird, and Capricorn and Taurus are the boring ones.

Mitt and Paul’s synastry – a bromance

What connections these guys have! At first glance you see that Mitt’s Venus and Part of Fortune are conjunct Paul’s Aquarius Sun. Paul’s Venus / Sun conjunction is conjunct Mitt’s Midheaven (Paul is very good for Mitt’s career). Aside from their natal Saturn’s being square each other and Mitt’s Saturn opposing Paul’s Sun, it’s a match made in heaven (or that special planet Mormons go to). Heck, even their Ascendant / Descendant axis is the exact opposite – Mitt’s Ascendant being 1º Gemini and Paul’s 0º Sagittarius. If I just looked at these charts without knowing who they were, I say they were a married couple. Oh, but wait, that would be illegal in most states. But anyway, it gets even more interesting when you check out the progressed synastry. Paul’s secondary progressed Sun is @ 21º Pisces, exactly conjunct Mitt’s natal Sun. PR’s secondary progressed Moon is @ 29 Taurus, so in a couple months it’s exactly conjunct Mitt’s Ascendant*. In Solar Arc directions, Paul’s Venus is @ 22º Pisces, also conjunct Mitt’s natal Sun (although separating). Also interesting is that on August 10th, 2012, Paul Ryan had a Tertiary progressed New Moon @ 27 Leo. The very next day it was announced that he would be Romney’s running mate. The Tertiary progressed New Moon is always a new beginning. This is especially interesting because Romney and Ryan’s Relationship Chart (Davison) Sun is @ 27º Leo!

Another fun fact, is that Romney and Ryan’s composite Ascendant is @ 0º Virgo, which is exactly conjunct the US Sibley chart’s progressed Ascendant, also @ 0º Virgo. (I’m using Time Cycles Research IO Edition software for these calculations).

I don’t know if R&R are going to win, but this is quite a dynamic political coupling.

And folks, I try to separate my own political biases from my Astrology. No grief please. I apologize in advance for the Mormon joke…and hey, if they do get their own planet – I’m in! (long as it’s not Saturn).

I will delve into this some more. Any of your comments and or observations would be appreciated. Thanks.

*Actually, I would say this might tweak Paul’s natal Ascendant to 29º Scorpio instead of 0º Sagittarius, since his secondary progressed Moon would then be conjunct his own 7th house cusp – and he is now a running “mate”, which is ruled by the 7th house.

Obama and Romney’s Progressed Declination Moon Graphs

In 1974, Astrologer Katherine “Kt” Boehrer published a book entitled “Declination: The Other Dimension” (or was it the Beastie Boys in 1977?). I highly recommend studying her work. Anyway, if you’re an Astrologer, you use declinations in your chart interpretation. The graphs below simply show the lifetime secondary progressed Moon’s declination (not longitude). The highest point shows the progressed Moon at it’s maximum declination north, and the point on the bottom of the curve, south. There is also a line in the center for 0º. When the progressed Moon reaches maximum declination, either north or south, as represented by these peaks and valleys in the graph, there is usually a major life event. You’ll see in these graphs that President Obama graduated from Harvard when his progressed Moon was at maximum declination north. Mitt Romney became a vice president of Bain & Co. when his progressed Moon reached maximum declination south. In fact, Romney’s most transitional periods in life have occurred when his Moon progressed “out of bounds” (which is 23º27″ north or south declination). Both his new V.P. position at Bain & Co. and his election as governor of Massachusetts took place during progressed “out of bounds” Moon periods. Both candidates’ progressed Moon declinations are close to zero degrees (a little past) now and at the time of the 2013 inauguration. The graphs below show only the progressed Moon, however these graphs can include all the planets. For simplicity sake, I’ve only used the Moon here. The natal planets’ declinations (not progressed) are depicted by the horizontal lines that run across the graph (find the glyph on the right margin). The points where the Moon crosses these lines are also significant.

I’m not putting these up to play the “Astrologer predicts the election” game. I just hope you find the charts interesting. I look forward to researching this some more.
