Cardinals rule: King James & Lady GaGa

Unless you’ve been living in a nice cave, shielded from the media, you heard some mention of NBA star LeBron James (12/30/84) and pop star Lady GaGa (3/28/86) lately. King James as he is known, has a Capricorn Sun and Aries Moon. Folks, he’s not staying in Cleveland. Capricorn is the boss now. With his progressed Mercury (Cap) close to his natal Jupiter, his business empire could begin to eclipse his basketball success. You’d love SoBe LB.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, AKA Lady Gaga, has an Aries Sun and Scorpio Moon. Her driving force in the last 2 1/2 years has been transiting Pluto conjunct her natal Mars @ 0º Capricorn (with the help of her progressed Sun entering Taurus and forming a trine to her natal Mars). Her progressed Mercury is approaching a conjunction to her natal Sun over the next couple years. With that, and Uranus crossing her Sun until early 2014, we can expect her to continue morphing into something fresh and new.

Lunar Eclipse – June 26, 2010

Crustaceans and Corporations

The much talked about lunar eclipse will occur Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 7:30 AM EDT. The chart above is for Washington, DC. Pluto, in Capricorn, is conjunct the Moon (chart ruler) in the 6th house (public health, civil servants, work conditions in mundane) opposing the Cancer Sun and Mercury in the 12th house (behind the scenes or covert activity, national secrets), in a T-square with Uranus and Jupiter in Aries in the 9th house (don’t the lawyers always come out on top?). This is a rare, pressure cooker of an eclipse, one that we’re already feeling. Of course there is more going on below the surface (no pun) and as usual, we’re not being told everything about the oil disaster…at least not by the mainstream media. This disaster will lead to a widespread public health crisis. The eclipse will be triggered around August 6th, when Mars, in Libra, will square the eclipse points (of course this is all part of the late July / early August cardinal climax scenario – which reaches a crescendo on 7/30-8/1.)

AstroLogic – June 14-15, 2010

Venus enters fiery Leo this morning and will immediately form a trine to Uranus and Jupiter in Aries. This will be an exciting day for many, with the potential for love at first sight (or surprising romantic revelations), as well as unexpected financial opportunities. Pay close attention to the people who come into your life today. Those individuals born around 3/21, 7/23, or 11/23 could benefit the most (early Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius). On Tuesday, July 15, Mars in Virgo will trine Pluto in Capricorn. This would be a powerful day to start a business, or most ventures, for that matter. Those born in late April, August, and September (early Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) will ge the most out of this aspect. Carpe Diem!

You – Moving Forward – Mars goes direct in Leo

Ok, so maybe you feel like Sisyphus pushing that boulder since mid December. Mars retrograde can be like that. Since Mars will go direct next week (@ 0ºLeo 17″) it’s time to shift into the next gear (maybe like Sisyphus in a 4WD). I’d still wait ’til after the Sun enters Aries (3/20), i.e. the Vernal Equinox (and International Astrology Day!). I like 4/24,25,26 for starting somethin’ new. Yes, I know, Saturn is still retro ’til late May, but hey – you can wait forever for the perfect day. Life goes on. Since the average website visit is 57 seconds, here’s a brief look at where you might begin to take action and start anew: (keep in mind, this is Solar Astrology, if you know your ascendant, check that too).

  • Aries – Creativity, romance, children. Creating and procreating!
  • Taurus – Your home, family matters (the holidays are over, move on). Renovate your inner life and find a real “home”.
  • Gemini - Speaking your mind assertively. State your dreams aloud.
  • Cancer – Investing, valuing yourself, money (avoid spending just to feel good). Ask for a raise.
  • Leo - Your whole life! (and a haircut) btw: Watch President Obama show more assertiveness.
  • Virgo - Careful here with Mars in your Solar 12th house, watch the passive aggressive stuff. Try Yoga (if you’re brave Tantric).
  • Libra - Your male friends, your groups, clubs, networking. Energize and act on your hopes and dreams (with a partner even).
  • Scorpio - Your career, public image and reputation. Be the boss of you.
  • Sagittarius – Travel plans, college, getting published? Emerson said: “God will not have his work made manifest by cowards.” Keep that in mind.
  • Capricorn - Tax or insurance matters, write your will, collecting from partners, sex (business first, I understand).
  • Aquarius - Relationships (your partner may be more assertive). Watch the arguments.
  • Pisces – Take charge of your health and your job situation (they are connected).

Saturn Retrograde

daily_planetoid

On January 13, 2010 Saturn will go retrograde (@4° Libra)- until May 30, 2010 (direct @ 27° Virgo). Saturn rules limitations, structure, form, business, foundations (in every sense), lessons…Yep, Saturn rules RULES. Astrologers like to refer to Saturn as a no-nonsense disciplinarian, but what would we be without the rules and regulations it provides? The Saturn retrograde period is not the time to start major new projects or open a new business. Sometimes that’s hard to resist when the Saturn principle is malfunctioning. It is the time to reexamine and restructure projects and responsibilities we have already begun. Look under the hood and figure out what’s not working (don’t ya love those automobile metaphors?) and is the car even worth keeping? We’ll go into this deeper in a later discussion, but 2010 will be a challenging time for electional Astrologers for various reasons.

Now, some tips for this period for each sign (if you know your ascendant, you may read that too) :

Aries - Hold off on those engagement or wedding plans for now. A visit to your doc, chiropractor, therapist or shaman in the coming months (especially 4/7-7/21) should help you deal with some lingering health issues once and for all.

Taurus - Talk to your health care provider and review your meds, vitamins and exercise regimen. Take on those unfinished projects, but don’t start any major new ones. If you’ve been involved in some serious issues with children over the last couple years, you’ll get a chance to resolve those matters in the April-July period.

Gemini - Finish up those creative projects, ditch the ones that aren’t working. Have kids? Caring for them is your priority in the next couple years. Important home and family matters will be revisited between April and July. Where are you going to live?

Cancer - There are some changes brewing on the home front between now and 2012, but there may be issues around neighbors and siblings that will need resolving (once and for all) between April and July. Take another look at an unfinished writing project. A home that serves as an office will probably suit you in the coming years.

Leo – Your financial belt tightening should pay off later this year, but between April and July you may have to take care of some residual money matters dating back a couple years.

Virgo – Review your investments and expenses. Go through your attic and find some ebay gems. New Years’ resolutions are fine, but you may feel like you’re doing some back tracking between April and July.

Libra - Wait ’til August. OK? Not on everything…just that special plan.

Scorpio - Finish up, clear it out, let it go. Be patient, you’ll be better prepared for Saturn entering your sign in fall 2012 (assuming we’re all still here). Your hopes and dreams have taken shape since 2007 but there’s still some fine tuning this year, between April and July. Who’s had your back in the last couple years? (to readers outside the US, that means: which of your friends has looked out for you? been there for you?) By this summer you’ll know who your true friends are.

Sagittarius – You’ve had since the fall of 2007 to figure out the career thing. But there’s still some unfinished business you must deal with (you guess it, between April and July). What are your hopes, dreams and wishes? What groups of people do you wish to associate with? Your mission is to figure that out over the next couple years. To quote Groucho Marx (or was it Woody Allen?) Would you want to be a member of a club that would have you as a member?

Capricorn – It’s about career integrity for next couple years. The period from May though July may find you traveling for work, taking courses, or revisiting an unresolved legal matter.

Aquarius – Need to fill in some educational blanks? Time to take a hard look at what you need to take your career to the next level in a couple years. If you travel now, it may not be for pleasure. Tax matters, loans, and partners’ money matters work out better after July. For celibate Aquarians, the drought ends this summer.

Pisces – MasterCard, everywhere you want(ed) to be. It’s time to pay it off. Don’t depend on your partner’s cash flow. No shortcuts on that 2009 tax return. As I alluded to in the 2010 outlook, a closer look at your relationship(s) between April and July should lead you to some final conclusions (probably in late May).

Even though Saturn goes direct on 5/30/10, we’re not out of the “shadow” of this retrograde until early September ’10. As Saturn moves retrograde in Libra, it will re-enter Virgo on April 7th, go direct in Virgo on May 30th, then re-enter Libra on July 21st. The period from 4/7 through 7/21 will find us revisiting the issues of the past 2 1/2 years.

2010 Solar snippets

daily_planetoid

Here are some thoughts and bits of advice for all 12 Sun signs. If you know your ascendant, you may read that as well. As you know, Solar, or “Sun sign” Astrology is only a glimpse of what’s happening in your life and where your focus is. True astrological insight is gained by studying your entire chart - and the transits and progressions you’re experiencing. That said, here we go:

  • Aries- Are you an early Aries (March 20th to 25th)? You’re probably already experiencing some significant career changes, and the influence of Pluto (transformation) on your solar midheaven (career, public persona) will continue this year (key periods are early April and mid-Sept.). Relationships are especially challenging from Jan. 8th to 18th or so. Breakups and separations may happen, but at the very least you’ll take a hard look at your partner (or maybe you’ve already checked that off your to-do list). In any case, you’re serious in your approach to relationships over the next couple years. Your life could get pretty darn exiting come June 2010, with both Jupiter and Uranus entering your sign. The urge is to take bold, impulsive action at that time. There’s an opportunity for adventure and a whole new way of expressing yourself, but there may be a cost. Partners may offer a lot of “yeah-buts”. The rest of Aries will experience some of these same issues over the next couple years. Focus – career opportunities, personal expression and individuality. Relationships need work. Good luck with the balancing act. Life reaches a critical turning point from early July- early August. On the celebrity front: Matthew Broderick, Gary Oldman and Reese Witherspoon could have career breakthroughs this summer (or provide some fodder for gossip).
  • Taurus - Try not to get too stirred up over family issues in the first two months of the year (been there, done that?). You could regret any aggressive action you take prior to March 10th. Plan a home fixer-upper project, but don’t start until mid-March. Your diet and health will need extra attention in the next couple years. Being proactive will save you a lot of trouble in those areas. This would be an excellent year to go back to school. If you never got that degree, this would be the time to do it. Your friends will be a great source of support this year.
  • Gemini- 2010 could be an excellent year to find a new job or start a new business (after March). Children or younger people could be an area of great responsibility for the next couple years. I imagine Geminis would be terrific at running a day care center with their ability to juggle so much. By the end of the year you’ll probably be surrounded by a whole new group of people. After June, you’ll benefit tremendously from networking. Avoid gambling with your assets, in fact, stick with conservative investments for the next couple years (discuss any financial moves with a CFP).
  • Cancer- Feeling pressure? You bet. And it comes from every direction. Family responsibilities are a main focus for the next couple years (what else is new?). This could be your mom or dad needing you. You may be thinking about your roots, home improvement, moving. Your career could take an unexpected turn – possibly for the better – this summer. It may involve working from home. Early Cancers (6/21-6/30) will likely experience these issues first. Your relationship needs attention, but it’s quite a challenge having to juggle so much. Life reaches a critical turning point in late July- early August. Here are some well known Cancers who will probably make headlines this year: Michael Vick, George Michael, Tobey Maguire, Robert Reich, Ross Perot. All of them will experience the pressure of the cardinal climax firsthand.
  • Leo- Some of the financial pressures should be easing up this year, however there is the possibility of having to deal with past financial matters from April through July 2010. Focus on health now more than ever as there are a couple eclipses involving your health sector. With Mars retrograde in your sign (since Dec. 20th,2009) anger may be boiling over. That can’t be too good for your heart. Mid-march (after the 10th) is better for moving forward on plans and schemes. Dealing with siblings and neighbors could be a challenge in the next couple years.
  • Virgo- It’s been a difficult period for Virgos, having to separate all that wheat from the chaff over the last couple years. More than a few Virgos I know have had to extricate themselves from relationships with losers and are ready for healthier couplings (and one really special one). Yeah, there will always be those fixer uppers, after all – mutual signs excel in dealing with other people’s problems. You’re now in a period where you’ll need to get your financial house in order. Your innate practicality will come in handy over the next couple years. There are financial lessons to be learned now, so be proactive and seek out professional help if you need it.
  • Libra- All the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are facing tremendous pressures, and you’re no exception. How does one start a new career, deal with unpredictable craziness in relationships, and maintain that Libra charm at the same time? You’re about to find out. Keeping your home life from falling apart may be the biggest challenge of all. There may be a special new person in your life this summer. The last person your expected. Life reaches a critical turning point in late July- early August.
  • Scorpio- Feeling romantic Scorpio? You will. Not only that, 2010 is going to be an extremely creative time for Scorpio. Issues with sibling and neighbors could arise. And what about your family? An ill parent is still a possibility and could need attention. And your home? Ever feel like there is no there there? I’m sure some of you know what I mean. Create your magnum opus in 2010!
  • Sagittarius- Feeling the itch to move to another country? State? Maybe you’re just buying a home or adding a deck. As free and unencumbered as you’d like to be, much of your time will be spent getting your financial house in order this year (and beyond). Make sure not to take any short cuts on those taxes. Your kids will either make you quite proud this year or do the last thing you expected (and succeed).
  • Capricorn- Have have you handled your ambition? If you haven’t taken any shortcuts or stepped on too many toes, you should be fine. Otherwise you could be facing your own personal Watergate in the next couple years. (yeah, ‘ol Nixon had Saturn in his 10th house during that period). A whole herd of Capricorns may be moving this summer, buying new homes, etc. Maybe they aren’t on the same scale you envisioned before the housing bubble burst, but still….you’re a Cap…a double-wide trailer simply won’t do. Life reaches a critical turning point in early April, late July- early August and mid September. Hear that Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, LeBron James? (and, oh yeah, that Tiger Woods guy). And to some of my favorite Caps of all time – Shane McGowan (the Pogues), Larry Csonka and Don Shula (happy 80th) – take care of yourselves gentlemen.
  • Aquarius- A long painful Chiron transit is nearing it’s end for most water-bearers, but for those born after Feb. 12th the process of healing continues. It’s still a confusing time for those later Aquarians, but also a period of inspiration. There could be huge improvements in store financially in 2010…and perhaps a pleasant surprise in May or November.
  • Pisces- 2010 will present many opportunities for you. Many Pisceans are emerging from a rough time in relationships (which may be revisited from April though July), but nothing keeps a Pisces down (except themselves very often). Late Pisces (March 14-20th) will still feel some of that Uranian excitement and unpredictability. You may be making a final decision on a relationship the last week of May. Then it’s time to move on. This is especially true of later Pisces as well. The less you rely on other people’s resources over the next couple years, the better off you’ll be. Some sources of income may dry up, just as new ones begin to emerge this summer. 2010 is about seizing the moment.

Tiger, meet Pluto

The following post was written on Dec. 2, 2009 when the story was still fresh. It’s obviously yesterday’s news, but a lot of Googlers are still winding up here. I’ll leave it as is, unedited, since some of the info is still relevant.

A Cadillac SUV? Sheesh, just when we thought he drove a Buick. What’s next? We’re gonna find out he uses an electric shaver and not Gillette blades?

You know, the late night comics will love this. Dude crashes into a fire hydrant and a tree at 2-something in the morning. His model wife smashes the back window of the vehicle with a golf club to rescue him (a 9 iron?). Uh huh. If you’re a good Googler you’ve probably read about the ~ALLEGED~ affair he was having. I guess the Enquirer has a bit more journalistic cred after they broke the John Edwards story.

OK, let’s see what his chart might say. Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods was born Dec. 30, 1975, 10:50 PM PST in Cypress, CA (AA data). He’s a Solar Capricorn of course, his Moon Sagittarius, and his Ascendant is 24° Virgo. How embarrassing for a Cap with Virgo rising to get exposed like this. Over the next four years Tiger will undergo a powerful transformation. That’s how long Pluto’s transit to his natal Sun will last. His natal Sun occupies the 4th house, but it rules his natal 12th. Private matters will be dug up. Another significant transit at the moment (and the trigger for this event) is Uranus, in Pisces, conjunct his 7th house cusp. In fact, Uranus is stationing direct there right now. Surprise surprise – the planet of the unexpected, smack dab in the house of relationships and marriage. Transiting Uranus also forms a square to his natal Moon, so he’s probably pretty shaken up emotionally. Tiger’s natal Venus is @ 28° Scorpio and is being squared by transiting Neptune. I don’t know if Tiger is having an affair, maybe he isn’t, but it’s known to happen with this particular transit.

The accident occurred at 2:25 AM EST in Windermere, FL (a lovely place to winter). A chart cast for this time and place is revealing. The first aspect I notice is that transiting Mercury was @ 17° Sagittarius – exactly opposing (and contra-parallel) Tiger’s natal Mars in Gemini* and approaching a square to transiting Uranus @ 22° Pisces. The transit of Mercury in opposition to natal Mars doesn’t always result in a fender bender, but it can often indicate an argument. Also, at the time of the accident there was an extremely tense Moon (Aries) / Saturn (Libra) / Pluto T-square forming. The planetary stage was set for a blow up. Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, is a Capricorn as well (1/1/80 Stockholm, Sweden). Obviously a lot more info. is forthcoming. Mercury, the cosmic news reporter, will cross both Tiger and Elin’s Sun on 12/11-12 and will fill in some juicy details for us. Also – the lunar eclipse on Dec. 31, 2009 will occur @ 10° Capricorn/Cancer. This will conjoin Mr. and Mrs. Wood’s Suns as well. This is a story that will drag on and on, reaching a critical point in early April and mid-September, as Pluto stations in Capricorn. Saturn in Libra will also alter Tiger’s public persona. He’s a very private man (his yacht is named “Privacy”) but he’ll be forced to deal with public scrutiny as Saturn moves through Libra squaring his natal Sun. Tiger’s natal Mercury is in Capricorn, so you can be sure that his response will be controlled and measured. Stay tuned. [Fill in clever golfing metaphor].

* Tiger’s natal Mars is retrograde @ 17° Gemini and is also out of bounds (24N58). His Mars progressed from retrograde to direct motion in August 1996 – the month he offically became a professional golfer. His progressed Sun also entered Aquarius that same month. Progressed planets changing direction and the progressed Sun changing signs are both significant turning points in life. Another such time is Pluto transiting in conjunction to one’s natal Sun. Good luck Tiger.
