Cardinals rule: King James & Lady GaGa

Unless you’ve been living in a nice cave, shielded from the media, you heard some mention of NBA star LeBron James (12/30/84) and pop star Lady GaGa (3/28/86) lately. King James as he is known, has a Capricorn Sun and Aries Moon. Folks, he’s not staying in Cleveland. Capricorn is the boss now. With his progressed Mercury (Cap) close to his natal Jupiter, his business empire could begin to eclipse his basketball success. You’d love SoBe LB.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, AKA Lady Gaga, has an Aries Sun and Scorpio Moon. Her driving force in the last 2 1/2 years has been transiting Pluto conjunct her natal Mars @ 0º Capricorn (with the help of her progressed Sun entering Taurus and forming a trine to her natal Mars). Her progressed Mercury is approaching a conjunction to her natal Sun over the next couple years. With that, and Uranus crossing her Sun until early 2014, we can expect her to continue morphing into something fresh and new.

AstroLogic – June 14-15, 2010

Venus enters fiery Leo this morning and will immediately form a trine to Uranus and Jupiter in Aries. This will be an exciting day for many, with the potential for love at first sight (or surprising romantic revelations), as well as unexpected financial opportunities. Pay close attention to the people who come into your life today. Those individuals born around 3/21, 7/23, or 11/23 could benefit the most (early Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius). On Tuesday, July 15, Mars in Virgo will trine Pluto in Capricorn. This would be a powerful day to start a business, or most ventures, for that matter. Those born in late April, August, and September (early Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) will ge the most out of this aspect. Carpe Diem!

AstroLogic – June 7, 2010

AstroLogic – June 5, 2010

The Moon’s still in Pisces today and will oppose Saturn in late Virgo tonight at 9:36 PM (ET- US). There’s also a Moon / Saturn parallel. This is not a very emotionally satisfying combo. But wait! In the middle of the night (or this evening in Europe), the Moon will meet up with Jupiter at the end of Pisces, will enter Aries after after a one minute void, and will then conjoin Uranus moments later. Wow, I’m sure there will be lots of spontaneous, alcohol induced, hook-ups tonight. Have fun, be safe. We’ll talk about Jupiter in Aries later.

Uranus in Aries – Civil Disobedience

Remember the movie “Network”? The character Howard Beale shouted : “You’ve got to say, ‘I’m a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!’ So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ (“Network” was written by Paddy Chayefsky, an Aquarius, ruled by Uranus).

It’s been 75 years since Uranus occupied the sign of Aries, and on May 27th 2010, the planet of freedom and individuality will enter the first sign of the zodiac again. Uranus’ passage through Aries will last about 8 years (plus 4 months in 2019). Zero degrees Aries is known as the “World Point” and is an extremely potent degree. On June 8th 2010, Uranus and Jupiter will be conjunct at 0º Aries. The is revolutionary energy on a large scale. It doesn’t necessarily imply Molotov cocktails flying around everywhere, but yes, fanatics will be acting out more than ever. Regular folks, or groups of like minded people, will be grabbing the world’s attention though sudden radical or “extremist” behavior. Computer hackers, suicide bombers, and militia groups are examples of the negative expression of this energy. Uranus in Aries is rebellion. On July 15th, 1927 with Jupiter conjunct Uranus (exactly, at 3º Aries) Black Friday took place in Austria involving a clash between right and left-wing factions (also called The July Revolt of 1927). In February, 1762, during another Jupiter / Uranus conjunction (7º Aries) the Great Holocaust of The Sikhs took place in Punjab, killing over 500,000 people.

On the positive side, there will be new “revolutionary” achievements in technology. Advancements in brain science are possible as well. People will demand government reforms, but in some places they will be punished for this. Also, I imagine in some secret room in the Pentagon, there is a new Manhattan Project, of sorts, perhaps some new military use of cutting edge technology (robo-soldiers? microwaves? or something I sure can’t imagine). Uranus’ last transit though Aries was from 3/31/1927 to early 1935. On May 20th 1927 at 7:52 am, less than 2 months after Uranus entered Aries, Charles Lindbergh flew his single-seat, single-engine, “Spirit of St. Louis” airplane 3,600 miles from New York to Paris. One man alone, for 33.5 hours, up to 10,000 feet in the air, though fog and using the stars to navigate when he could see them. Uranus rules aircraft and Aries is the individual. His was the first solo flight across the Atlantic. Uranus’ previous transit through Aries began in February 1844. On 5/24/1844 Samuel Morse transmitted the first telegraph message “What Hath God Wrought” (Numbers 23:23) from the B&O Railroad station in Baltimore to the US Capital in Washington D.C. Uranus rules wires and the telegraph. On Jan. 24th, 1848 James W. Marshall discovered gold at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California and the Gold Rush was on, attracting hundreds of thousands of prospectors, all trying to stake their claim. Aries is the Ram of course, but it is also symbolized by the seed sprouting and emerging from the soil. “Breakthrough” is a keyword. So who is the next pioneer, and where will he or she lead us?

There will be attempts to suppress this Uranian “revolution”. We have already seen how the Saturn / Uranus opposition has manifested in politics – Obama vs McCain, but more recently in Google vs China. The 21st Century tech behemoth vs the old revolutionary – turned oppressor, after all, Marx and Engels wrote “The Communist Manifesto” while Uranus was in Aries in 1848. That was a year of revolution across Europe, and the Taiping Rebellion was brewing in China (began in 1850). From 1846 to 1848, the US was at war with Mexico. All eyes may be on Iran, still reeling from the violence and suppression of the 2009 election protests.

Uranus in Aries also means that one individual with a radical, crazy, new idea can change society. It’s the kid in a garage playing with wires. A rogue scientist in a lab somewhere. Ascanio Sobrero created Nitroglycerin in 1947 while Uranus was in Aries. Or, it could be an author. In 1849, again with Uranus was in Aries, Henry David Thoreau published the essay entitled “Civil Disobedience”. This is where you’ll find the aphorism : “That government is best which governs least” (often attributed to Thomas Jefferson). So now it’s 2010 and we have the Tea Party movement in the U.S. (is there a Black Tea Party? A Green Tea Party? Chamomile?). We also have the DVD release of Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story”. We’re angry at governments and corporations and individual freedoms are perceived to be at stake. What we’re going to see is the “T-square-party” and Uranus, Saturn and Pluto are the hosts. Uranus will station retrograde on July 5th 2010 at 0º Aries. There will certainly be some special fireworks in July this year, whether it’s the first ten days while Uranus stations, or the end of the month (7/31) when Mars in Libra conjoins Saturn, and the Moon in Aries conjoins Uranus and Jupiter. Pluto in Capricorn will square them all, so Big Brother won’t miss a beat.

As I wrote in a previous post (during the Woodstock 40th Anniversary) :

The culture shifting, revolutionary Uranus / Pluto conjunction in Virgo of the 1960s had already passed (with the ripples still being felt), but during the weekend of the Woodstock festival there was a Moon / Jupiter / Uranus conjunction in Libra. How perfect. Lots of hippies, music, peace & love!

What we have coming up in July 2010 is quite different. Jupiter and Uranus will conjoin in Aries – certainly not the sign of peace and love. They will be squared by Pluto in Capricorn and opposed by Saturn in Libra. Even Mars joins in on the fun 7/29/10. Ya say ya wanna revolution?

Uranus’ transits through Aries:

  • April 20th 1843 – Oct. 1, 1843, Feb. 10, 1844 – Jul. 8, 1950, Sep. 3, 1850 – Apr. 15, 1851
  • Mar. 31, 1927 – Nov. 4, 1927, Jan. 13, 1928 – Jun. 6, 1934, Oct. 10, 1934 – Mar. 28, 1935
  • May 27, 2010 – Aug. 14, 2010, Mar. 12, 2011 – May 15, 2018, Nov. 6, 2018 – Mar. 6, 2019
  • Again in 2094, in case you’re curious.

Here’s an interesting group of people – all were born with Uranus in Aries:

  • Friedrich Nietzsche
  • Wilhelm Roentgen (discovered the X-ray, had a Sun/Uranus exact conjunction @ 6º Aries, and a Scorpio Moon)
  • George Westinghouse
  • Thomas Edison
  • Alexander Graham Bell
  • Paul Von Hindenburg
  • Luther Burbank
  • Ivan Pavlov
  • Fidel Castro
  • Martin Luther King
  • Ralph Nader
  • Edward Kennedy
  • Elvis Presley

Here’s where you may find the “nitro” in your life:

  • Aries – An urge for freedom! As a rebel – with a cause.
  • Taurus – Your shadow self.
  • Gemini – The groups you belong to and your friends.
  • Cancer – Your career and public life.
  • Leo – Religion, philosophy, travel, people from other cultures.
  • Virgo – Sex (if they only knew).
  • Libra – Relationships, (alternative?) partnerships.
  • Scorpio – Health and healing. (Electric acupuncture?)
  • Sagittarius – Your creativity, and (unexpected?) children.
  • Capricorn – Home, family.
  • Aquarius – A new way of communicating, learning.
  • Pisces – Money (a windfall?)

You – Moving Forward – Mars goes direct in Leo

Ok, so maybe you feel like Sisyphus pushing that boulder since mid December. Mars retrograde can be like that. Since Mars will go direct next week (@ 0ºLeo 17″) it’s time to shift into the next gear (maybe like Sisyphus in a 4WD). I’d still wait ’til after the Sun enters Aries (3/20), i.e. the Vernal Equinox (and International Astrology Day!). I like 4/24,25,26 for starting somethin’ new. Yes, I know, Saturn is still retro ’til late May, but hey – you can wait forever for the perfect day. Life goes on. Since the average website visit is 57 seconds, here’s a brief look at where you might begin to take action and start anew: (keep in mind, this is Solar Astrology, if you know your ascendant, check that too).

  • Aries – Creativity, romance, children. Creating and procreating!
  • Taurus – Your home, family matters (the holidays are over, move on). Renovate your inner life and find a real “home”.
  • Gemini - Speaking your mind assertively. State your dreams aloud.
  • Cancer – Investing, valuing yourself, money (avoid spending just to feel good). Ask for a raise.
  • Leo - Your whole life! (and a haircut) btw: Watch President Obama show more assertiveness.
  • Virgo - Careful here with Mars in your Solar 12th house, watch the passive aggressive stuff. Try Yoga (if you’re brave Tantric).
  • Libra - Your male friends, your groups, clubs, networking. Energize and act on your hopes and dreams (with a partner even).
  • Scorpio - Your career, public image and reputation. Be the boss of you.
  • Sagittarius – Travel plans, college, getting published? Emerson said: “God will not have his work made manifest by cowards.” Keep that in mind.
  • Capricorn - Tax or insurance matters, write your will, collecting from partners, sex (business first, I understand).
  • Aquarius - Relationships (your partner may be more assertive). Watch the arguments.
  • Pisces – Take charge of your health and your job situation (they are connected).

Saturn Retrograde

daily_planetoid

On January 13, 2010 Saturn will go retrograde (@4° Libra)- until May 30, 2010 (direct @ 27° Virgo). Saturn rules limitations, structure, form, business, foundations (in every sense), lessons…Yep, Saturn rules RULES. Astrologers like to refer to Saturn as a no-nonsense disciplinarian, but what would we be without the rules and regulations it provides? The Saturn retrograde period is not the time to start major new projects or open a new business. Sometimes that’s hard to resist when the Saturn principle is malfunctioning. It is the time to reexamine and restructure projects and responsibilities we have already begun. Look under the hood and figure out what’s not working (don’t ya love those automobile metaphors?) and is the car even worth keeping? We’ll go into this deeper in a later discussion, but 2010 will be a challenging time for electional Astrologers for various reasons.

Now, some tips for this period for each sign (if you know your ascendant, you may read that too) :

Aries - Hold off on those engagement or wedding plans for now. A visit to your doc, chiropractor, therapist or shaman in the coming months (especially 4/7-7/21) should help you deal with some lingering health issues once and for all.

Taurus - Talk to your health care provider and review your meds, vitamins and exercise regimen. Take on those unfinished projects, but don’t start any major new ones. If you’ve been involved in some serious issues with children over the last couple years, you’ll get a chance to resolve those matters in the April-July period.

Gemini - Finish up those creative projects, ditch the ones that aren’t working. Have kids? Caring for them is your priority in the next couple years. Important home and family matters will be revisited between April and July. Where are you going to live?

Cancer - There are some changes brewing on the home front between now and 2012, but there may be issues around neighbors and siblings that will need resolving (once and for all) between April and July. Take another look at an unfinished writing project. A home that serves as an office will probably suit you in the coming years.

Leo – Your financial belt tightening should pay off later this year, but between April and July you may have to take care of some residual money matters dating back a couple years.

Virgo – Review your investments and expenses. Go through your attic and find some ebay gems. New Years’ resolutions are fine, but you may feel like you’re doing some back tracking between April and July.

Libra - Wait ’til August. OK? Not on everything…just that special plan.

Scorpio - Finish up, clear it out, let it go. Be patient, you’ll be better prepared for Saturn entering your sign in fall 2012 (assuming we’re all still here). Your hopes and dreams have taken shape since 2007 but there’s still some fine tuning this year, between April and July. Who’s had your back in the last couple years? (to readers outside the US, that means: which of your friends has looked out for you? been there for you?) By this summer you’ll know who your true friends are.

Sagittarius – You’ve had since the fall of 2007 to figure out the career thing. But there’s still some unfinished business you must deal with (you guess it, between April and July). What are your hopes, dreams and wishes? What groups of people do you wish to associate with? Your mission is to figure that out over the next couple years. To quote Groucho Marx (or was it Woody Allen?) Would you want to be a member of a club that would have you as a member?

Capricorn – It’s about career integrity for next couple years. The period from May though July may find you traveling for work, taking courses, or revisiting an unresolved legal matter.

Aquarius – Need to fill in some educational blanks? Time to take a hard look at what you need to take your career to the next level in a couple years. If you travel now, it may not be for pleasure. Tax matters, loans, and partners’ money matters work out better after July. For celibate Aquarians, the drought ends this summer.

Pisces – MasterCard, everywhere you want(ed) to be. It’s time to pay it off. Don’t depend on your partner’s cash flow. No shortcuts on that 2009 tax return. As I alluded to in the 2010 outlook, a closer look at your relationship(s) between April and July should lead you to some final conclusions (probably in late May).

Even though Saturn goes direct on 5/30/10, we’re not out of the “shadow” of this retrograde until early September ’10. As Saturn moves retrograde in Libra, it will re-enter Virgo on April 7th, go direct in Virgo on May 30th, then re-enter Libra on July 21st. The period from 4/7 through 7/21 will find us revisiting the issues of the past 2 1/2 years.
