The partial Solar Eclipse on July 1, 2011 is @ 9º12″ Cancer and is the start of “Saros Series 13 New South”*. It forms a cardinal cross by opposing Pluto, squaring Saturn, and squaring Uranus. Sound familiar? Yep. The folks feeling this the most will be those born during the following periods (dates are approximate):
Aries – born March 28 – April 2nd
Cancer – born June 28 – July 3rd
Libra - born Sept. 30th – Oct. 4th
Capricorn – born Dec. 28th – Jan. 2nd
Another Astrologer once said that eclipses are like turning the lights “on and off” in our chart (I wish I could remember her name, I always liked that). So here’s where this eclipse turns the lights on in your chart.
The Sabian symbol for 10º Cancer (rounding up of course) is “A large diamond in the first stage of the cutting process” Sometimes Sabian Symbols don’t resonate with me, but I happen to like this one. It’s a diamond in the rough. This one is probably going to be a 5 carat square or emerald cut when it’s all finished. Since eclipses are always an appropriate time to meditate or do a visualization, keep this diamond in mind. Use active imagination. An important “trigger” date for this eclipse will be about August 16/17 when Mars reaches 9º Cancer. And by the way – Mars will be “out of bounds” between July 24 and August 22nd. The period between August 3rd and 17th is especially volatile.
*Bernadette Brady, our favorite eclipse expert says this:
“The theme of this entire series is about undertaking and/or completing large endeavours. At a personal level hard struggles begin to resolve, old thorny issues begin to untangle and the too-hard problems start to become clear”.
I recently saw a hilarious cartoon in The New Yorker (sorry, no link). The caption says “Organized Crime”. The cartoon depicts a row of plastic bins, each with it’s own label: guns, bullets, drugs, bodies, etc. Very OCD. It might describe what a Virgo crime operation would be like (sorry to feed into Virgo stereotypes, I’ve actually known a few Virgo slobs.) So Jimmy Bulger, a Virgo (Sept. 3, 1929), was finally caught, arrested, and charged with multiple murders. I don’t know his time of birth so I’ve posted a sunrise chart. His Moon is in Virgo as well, regardless of his time of birth. One aspect that stands out is his Mars / Uranus opposition. He’s described as having an explosive temper, and that would certainly fit. Also, it’s a bit of a wide orb, but he has a Mars / Pluto square. This is perhaps the most potentially violent aspect of all. These three planets form a pressure packed T-square. Transiting Saturn just stationed direct close to his natal Mars, while Pluto squares it and Uranus opposes. That would be a challenging time for anyone. In fact, our early 80s are a critical period for all of us, with the outer planets making important aspects to their natal positions. In any case, the Solar eclipse of June 1st squared his natal Sun (just like Anthony Weiner, b. Sept. 4, 1964) and the Lunar eclipse of June 15th touched his natal Saturn. With transiting Pluto squaring his natal Mercury and Uranus opposing it, the question is – will he start talking? There will be enormous pressure to do so.
No, he hasn’t tweeted pics of his privates or anything (not that I know of). He just announced that he’s running for President. Damn, I wish my teeth were that white (need to fire up the Photoshop). He looks like a president straight out of Central Casting (is there such a place?). I don’t have his time of birth yet, but he was born on March 26, 1960 in Palo Alto, CA. He’s a Mormon. He’s fluent in Mandarin. He likes “Prog Rock”, ie bands like Dream Theater (Mercury & Venus conjunct in Pisces). In fact he dropped out of high school to play in a rock band called “Wizard”. He later got his GED and went to UPenn. Maybe he inhaled. Whatever. Here’s his sunrise chart, but I’d really like to get his time of birth. The Moon moved from Pisces to Aries on that day. Anyone with planets in the early degrees of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) is experiencing hard aspects from Uranus, Pluto and Saturn (the T-Square Party), making this a challenging period. Huntsman’s candidacy has a hurdle to pass in September 2011 when Pluto, stationing direct in Capricorn squares his natal Sun. Uranus will continue to conjoin his natal Sun for the next year and a half. This oughta be interesting. His secondary progressed Mars is almost conjunct his natal Sun – it’s exact in September 2013. The dude looks like he’s up for the challenge, but I wouldn’t make any predictions without his time of birth. Carry on my wayward son (I’d attach an mp3 to this post, but that’s so annoyingly 90′s). In any case, there’s plenty of time to study all the wannabes. Anybody know if Bill Maher is running?
If you watch TV you can’t avoid them – The woman who can’t quit smoking, the couple in the hot tub (because the moment is right), the depressed people, the insomniacs. Then come the list of side effects: nausea, vomiting, heart attack, stroke, speaking in tongues, and so on.
To my knowledge, there are only two nations which allow DTC advertising of pharmaceuticals. The United States and New Zealand. DTC stands for “direct-to-consumer” in advertising lingo. In September 1985, a US Food and Drug Administration ruling legalized this type of advertising.
Now for a little Astrology. In September 1985, Neptune stationed direct at 0 Capricorn (a critical degree). So Neptune, ruler of drugs, in the sign of big business and government. Yep, that sounds about right.
In September 1985, the US progressed Sun was at almost 11 degrees Aquarius (10AQ39). This is close to the heliocentric south node of Neptune, which is at 11AQ36. Now, in 2011, the US progressed Sun is in Pisces, where it has been for almost seven years. Medication Nation.

OK, that’s enough ranting for now….where’s the Xanax?
There must be a zillion Astrologers blogging about this woman right now. So of course I figured it was time to add my two cents. I’m using the birth info that’s been out there on the ‘net but to my knowledge it is not AA data. She was born on March 19th, 1986 at 3:10 PM in Warren, Ohio according to most sources (the 3:10 PM TOB may be in question). So she’s a Pisces with Cancer Moon. Possibly Leo rising. Her daughter Caylee was last seen alive on June 15, 2008. I did a chart for 6/16/08, the date the defense claims that Caylee drowned in the pool. As you can see, transiting Mars was at 21º Leo on that day – within 2 degrees of Casey’s natal ascendant. For this reason, I would say that the 3:10 pm birth time is a good starting point (as far as I’m concerned, every chart could use a little rectification). Transiting Mars conjunct the ascendant can indicate a few days where one is expressing a lot of pent up anger and rage. I believe Ernest Hemingway shot himself during this transit. The transiting Sun was also opposing her natal Mars. Mars is a just a trigger though (no pun of course). There have to be major outer planet transits and progressions going on for a life-changing event to take place. Interestingly, the eclipse of June 15th, 2011 (this week) occurred on the 3rd anniversary of the date Caylee was last seen alive. So that eclipse lands right on the death chart’s Sun. It also squares Casey’s Sun and conjoins her natal Mars. Mars rules her natal 9th house (legal affairs) and her 4th house (endings). The prosecution rested it’s case on that day. There is so much to cover astrologically. Casey’s chart, Caylee’s chart, the Mom, the Dad, the death chart, the discovery of the body, the progressions, Solar returns. I’d like to point to a different kind of chart than you may be used to. It’s the progressed Moon declination graph. If you’re an Astrologer and you don’t use these, you’re really missing out on an amazing tool. If you’re a student of Astrology, just Google it. You’ll find a few good resources. I’ve researched the charts of clients and famous people (and famous clients, as well!) and find a significant correlation between the secondary progressed Moon’s declination and major life events and turning points. Casey was born with something called an out-of bounds Moon – or Moon OOB. You’ll read all kinds of interpretations of this. One thing is for sure – they can be prone to emotional extremes. It is what it sounds like. It’s beyond “normal” boundaries (which happen to be 23º27″ north or south declination). Babe Ruth had one. What was he known for? Hitting the ball out of the park (a baseball is a small sphere, isn’t it?) Einstein had one too. I’d say outside the box, but the term is so cliche that it’s now inside the box. So anyway, back to Casey. Below is her progressed Moon declination graph. She was born with that OOB Moon and it progressed in and out of bounds a couple times in her life, most recently progressing OOB about a year ago. We see from the graph that her progressed Moon is reaching what we call “maximum declination” very soon (actually, at the end of 2012). When the progressed Moon reaches maximum declination, either north or south, as represented by the peaks and valleys in the graph, there is a major life event. Casey is almost there. I’ve also put up the graph for Saddam Hussein, on which I’ve marked significant life (and death) events for him. As you can see, he became president of Iraq when his progressed Moon had peaked at max declination. You can also see that he was executed when his progressed Moon was in the same position, some 30 years later. I’ve seen graphs where individuals became famous or received accolades during this period, so it’s not simply doom and gloom. What will Casey’s fate be, when her progressed Moon reaches maximum declination next year? Will it be the same as Saddam Hussein? A jury will determine that very soon.
I’ve included Casey’s Solar return chart (assuming Orlando) for the year Caylee died. As you can see, Mars, the ruler of the 5th house (children), is in the 8th house (death). Saturn makes it’s presence known exactly on the MC. Hopefully all this contributes something different to the discussion. Please click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

They were married on July 10th, 2010. I don’t know the time, so the chart is for noon. They obviously didn’t have an Astrologer’s help in picking this date. The Moon is in early Cancer in a T-square with Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn (a Grand Cross counting Saturn at the end of Virgo) Egad. Venus at 0º Virgo is opposing Chiron (ouch) and in an off-sign opposition to Neptune. At best, they idealize each other. I wish I had Huma’s chart. She seems like such a fascinating and lovely woman (I get a Scorpio/Capricorn vibe). The Sun is conjunct Juno in the marriage chart. Juno (or Hera), as you may know, is the mythological wife of Jupiter (Zeus). Zeus wasn’t known for his tweeting, but he did have a lot of women in his time. Juno was a jealous Goddess, but she stood by her man. The conjunction is within 1º. I’m sure in the coming weeks we’ll see if the Juno theme fits. The Lunar Eclipse on 6/15 could spell his resignation. Here’s my original post on AW.
UPDATE: The chart below has a corrected location and a new time, based on news reports that they were married in the “early evening”. The Cancer Moon is separating from the hard aspects I mentioned, but it’s still not a great wedding chart.
